Privacy Policy

Medical Event Recorder · Effective date: 10 April 2026 · Last updated: 18 October 2026

Short version: Medical Event Recorder has no account and no server. It never sends your records anywhere itself, and you choose when to export or back them up. Your device's own backup may include them. On iPhone and iPad, iCloud Backup and device transfer include them when they are switched on. The app also sends diagnostic reports to Sentry when it hits an error or when it checks its own work; those reports are designed not to include anything you have recorded.

1. Who We Are

Medical Event Recorder is developed and published by Notiva, an Australian business operating under ABN 24 001 975 047. Our website is www.notiva.com.au.

For privacy-related enquiries, contact us at: privacy@notiva.com.au

2. What Information the App Uses

When you use Medical Event Recorder, you may record the following information about medical events:

This information is entered voluntarily by you and is used to display your event history in the app, and to produce the exports and backups described in Sections 5 and 9.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored No account, no server

All data you enter into Medical Event Recorder is stored locally on your device.

Medical Event Recorder has no account and no server. It never sends your records anywhere itself. Your device's own backup may include app data. On iPhone and iPad, iCloud Backup and device transfer include Medical Event Recorder's records when they are switched on, and those copies remain after the app is uninstalled. That is your device setting to control. On Android, the app is excluded from Google backup and transfer. On Windows, the app writes your records to its own storage on your device, and not to Documents or the other folders Windows offers to back up.

When the app upgrades the way it stores your records, it first writes a complete copy of them to its own private storage on your device, so that nothing is lost if the upgrade is interrupted. That copy stays in the app's own storage until you use Reset. The app never sends it anywhere; as above, your device's own backup may include it.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, access, or process:

Diagnostics are covered separately in Section 6, including the count of when the app is opened and for how long.

Each installation of the app is given a random identifier by the error-reporting service, so that reports from the same installation can be grouped together. It is generated by that service. It is not your device's identifier, not an advertising identifier, and is not linked to you. It is created when the app is first installed and is stored with the app's own files; using Reset does not change it.

The app does not require an account or registration.

5. Data Export

You may export event history as a spreadsheet, or save a backup file containing your full history. Neither is password-protected. Exported data is fully under your control.

6. Third-Party Services

Diagnostic Reporting (Sentry)

Medical Event Recorder uses Sentry (sentry.io) to collect diagnostic reports. A report is sent automatically when the app encounters an error, and also at a small number of points where the app checks its own work. One example is when the app first sets up or upgrades the way it stores your records, so that the step can be confirmed to have completed. The service also records when the app is opened and for how long, as a count of sessions; that carries no information about what you did in the app.

A report contains the error or event description, a technical stack trace, and information about your device: its model, operating system, app version, battery and storage levels, time zone, and how long it has been running. It does not include your name, your email address, or your IP address.

Reports are designed not to include anything you have recorded in the app. Diagnostic data is stored on Sentry's servers in the United States, and is retained for 30 days on our current plan.

Sentry's privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy.

The app may be distributed through third-party platforms (App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store). Those platforms have their own privacy policies governing data collected at the platform level.

7. Children's Privacy

Medical Event Recorder is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

The app sends none of your records to Notiva. Diagnostic reports are sent as described in Section 6. No account or registration is required to use the app.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has entered personal information into the app, you can delete everything recorded in the app on the device using Reset in About, as described in Section 9. Removing individual events hides them from the history rather than erasing the underlying record, and uninstalling the app does not remove any copy already held in a device backup or transfer.

8. Sensitive Health Information

Anything you record in the app is stored in the app's own storage on your device. Your device's own backup may include it, as Section 3 explains. The app does not send it to Notiva, and Notiva collects no health information by any other route. The diagnostic reports described in Section 6 are designed not to include what you have recorded.

9. Your Rights (Australian Privacy Act 1988)

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, and delete personal information held about you. The app sends none of your records to Notiva. Diagnostic reports are sent as described in Section 6.

Specifically, you may:

Notiva holds no account for you and receives none of your records, so there is no record of yours for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on request. What is transmitted is the diagnostic reporting described in Section 6, which is designed not to include anything you have recorded and is held by Sentry rather than by us. If you have a privacy-related question or concern, contact us at privacy@notiva.com.au.

10. Medical Disclaimer

This app is not a medical device and does not replace medical advice.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, applicable law, or our practices. When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page.

If we make a significant change, particularly one that would affect how data is handled, we will communicate it within the app itself. Continued use of the app after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. The current version of this policy is always available at www.notiva.com.au/medical-event-recorder/privacy/.
